Internet users may sometimes
enter into virus infected websites, download infected files, or open bogus
email attachments which expose their computers to malicious programs coming
from scammers and hackers who will steal their personal information as well as
trick them into paying certain amount for bogus products. One such program that
web users should watch out for is the SmartHDD Virus.
The Smart HDD is a bogus software
created by internet scammers to dupe clueless users into shelling out money in
the belief that their computers has been seriously infected by a virus and
needs to be immediately cleaned. The scam is very convincing because the virus
will appear like a legitimate computer optimization program and the computer
will altogether cease to function normally. All of the programs including the
task manager and the anti-virus are blocked and unable to run. A helpless user
thinking he has no choice will be forced to purchase and download the fake
software that the virus is offering as a “solution”. Once the user obtained
this software the fake warning will disappear.
This is not the real solution
however. What the person encountering this problem must do is to totally remove
the fake program out of the computer system. There are two ways to accomplish
this, one is by manual removal. This solution may not cost the user money to
employ however it is only advisable if the user himself has enough skills about
computers since otherwise he may have the added risk of putting more damage on
the computer rather than fixing the problem. Completely removing the Smart HDD
virus will not be guaranteed as well.
The more safer and easy way is by
using automatic removal tools which can effectively and completely eliminate
the malicious program out of the computer system. These tools are legitimate
softwares specifically designed to handle this kind of scams and restore the
computer to its normal functioning in no time.
